The Newsletter Pages!

I spend a lot of time on the internet, and I ususally find a choice little tip or two that I feel that I should pass along. I have created this page so you, the readers, can enjoy a tip or two that I find. If you have a topic that you would like to see covered, I will try to get it on the site for you. Use the mail link below and put "Newsletter suggestion" in the subject line.

The Newsletters!

Newsletter #1, June 15, 2001 - System Performance
This is about the way to increase the performance (and keep it running smoothly) using utilities found in your Windows© installation. There ar those that would advocate that you buy an expensive office utilities suite from a third party to keep your computer running smoothly. I say that this just isn't true. With just two of the utilities that come on your Windows© installation, you are set to go to town breating new life into your windows© installation. Note-this doesn't apply to NT or 2000-Micro$oft decided not to include a Defragmenter with these flavors of windows as far as I know. Would anybody like to pass along their favorite defragmenter for NT/2000? I will put together a survey on that and let you know how the survey turns out.

For those of you out there using Apple© computers, you too will have to buy 3rd party software to get a defragmenter for your OS. Finally, those of you that are smart enough/brave enough to run LInux OS, disregard all of this. Linux has been known to run for years without suffering from fragmenting.

Newsletter #2, June 20th, 2001 - Monitors
I would like to pass along my opinions about purchasing a monitor, whether with a new system or as a replacement for an existing monitor. This is intended to be a guide, not set in stone on monitors and why you would purchase a certain type/size of monitor for your proposed usage.

Newsletter #3, June 25th, 2001 - Internet Keyboard Shortcuts
This is my short but helpful list of keyboard shortcuts that will accelerate your internet surfing speed!

Newsletter #4, January 20th, 2004 - The story of how not to build a new computer!
This is what happened when i built a new computer, and I am sure that you will get a chuckle ot two out of it! No gory detail held back!!

Newsletter #5, February 17th, 2005 - Agony with our M$ Windoze Box!
This is what happened after the new box outlined in Newsletter #4 was build and running for a while. It just showd that you have to be careful about upgrades. They are not what they seem!

Here are some of my favorite tech links

I use these sites all the time for technical research. If it wasn't for a few of these sites, I wouldn't be able to do my job properly, as some of the tips and tricks that I have found are only on these sites. Sometimes the subject is just not covered on the Micro$oft Website and I find myself searching for the juicy stuff. Enjoy!

Gibson Research Corporation
PC 911
